Goodwood Revival 2012 Photo Challenge: 24 Shots, No Deletes, All B&W.

Maybe it was the atmosphere at the Revival, or just the realisation of how much I take my 7D for granted, but me and my wing man Rog decided to have an old school shoot out:  24 shots, no deletes and all straight out of the camera, just like the good old days.  I very rarely shoot in B&W and worse still never use an SLR (despite having a few and some films gathering dust in the loft).  For shame.  It’s amazing how knowing you only have a limited number shots focusses the mind and really gets you thinking about every aspect of what you’re pointing your lens at.  Here’s a few of mine, the winner is still up for debate…

Retro Cars x PVW X Compomotive Wheels

A couple of weeks back I headed over to Compomotive wheels with Si from Retro Cars and Elliot from PVW to shoot a feature.   I don’t usually post these things as they are going in the mag, but I thought I’d flash a bit of B-Roll because the place was AWESOME.  Make sure you check it out in Retro cars and PVW: British engineering alive and well!

Shooting Practice: Evo 9 FQ360 x CCW LM20

Curtain twitching and neighbourhood watch is not really my thing. However, when I noticed Jon (a guy I’d met at a couple of meets and know through my old man) lived round the corner from my new place, I thought it was only polite to drop in and say hi…especially as I know he’s got form:  a 450bhp FD, and a whistle clean S14 slammed on TEs to name just a few.

His latest, just finished (if these things are ever finished), toy is a rather special Evo 9 FQ360:  Dripping with carbon, slammed on Exe-TC fast road/track coilies and finished off with a set of just-in from the States custom CCW LM20 wheels – these things are a pretty big deal in the UK as nobody is really running them yet and I’m pretty sure it’s the only  evo in the UK on set.

So, just to be neighbourly, I thought we should go out for a shoot!

I’m really pleased how the pics came out and had a lot of fun on the shoot…just a shame photobucket kills them!

The Group 4 Sunbeam Lotus Chronicles: Cage Fighting

This project belongs to my good friend Rog.  Having been in his hands since he was at uni (where it spent most of its time lit up sideways through Swansea and surrounding area) it had seen better days and was making a serious bid to return to Mother Nature;  When I first saw it there was foot square holes in the floors…

Since then the shell has been stripped, acid dipped, welded together over an intensive week, painted, group 4 alloy arched and caged.  I headed over this weekend to give a hand painting the MSA spec cage that’s just been fitted.  I think you’ll agree, it looks pretty awesome!

Now don’t worry, this isn’t going to be another Lotus owners club rally replica or a show pony; it’s going to be a full-blown Berg Cup meets Lotus prototype development car road-going animal.  It will end up with a supercharger and it will kick your face right off.

But there’s still a long way to go yet…

Shooting Practice: Ducati 1098s

My mate Gav has just got himself a Ducati 1098s; now I’m not really into bikes and I don’t know really anything about them…but f*** me this thing’s a monster.  While the sun was shining and post a BBQ we headed out to get a few shots in the fading evening light.   It’s worth mentioning that Gav is a full-blown nutter and really knows how to peddle a bike, so this selection of pictures have been edited for Fed friendliness…

LEGEND.

Car Park Shoot Out: Chicks dig static drops…

It still never ceases to amaze me the people I’ve met and the places I’ve found myself, just through my love of cars and photography.  A chance Facebook encounter this week led me to a cold car park in Birmingham snapping an S15, Impreza and some Roadster you might have seen before.

Unusually, for one of my car-type-pic-fests, there was a lady present: Ms Kelli Smith.  On the basis she looks a lot better than me in a bikini than me, she got her pose on!

I ❤ Stanceworks right back…

Big thanks to James LuPix and Kelli Smith!
