Performance Car Show 19-04-08

Yesterday I headed down to a very wet Castle Combe circuit for the Performance Car Show. I was lucky enough to blag a show pass so I could have my Roadster on a stand. This made life a lot easier, especially playing with my camera and surviving the rain!

There were a few interesting cars on display and the track action was entertaining with plenty of cars spinning and taking to the grass run-off. There was not a huge selection of Japanese metal though there was a rather nice S2K with some tasty J’s Racing bits as well a a couple of nice S bodies that took part in the drifting later in the day.

Project KP30; Camber Chamelion

More progress; My KW top mounts arrived!

A guy I work with (Thanks Roody) has a mate who works for KW  so some pics, measurements and 2 weeks later I have these at a very reasonable price.

First job was to bore out the bearing carriers to fit my 15mm Struts.

I had to do bit of lathe work on the spring top mounts and damper bodies to allow the bearing carriers to sit flush and maximise my suspension travel.

I turned down the original nuts so they would support the spherical bearings and maximise the thread engagement.

Before:

After:

I changed the oil and reassembled the struts. One of the nice things about this car is that the struts are fully rebuild-able allowing me to change oil weight based on how the car feels and what spring rate I am using.

Then bolted them up to the car

They have cured the rubbing and allowed me to keep the wheel fitment tight to the arch so all in a total result.

Now the suspension is sorted I need to get the tracking done and then it will be spot on.

Project KP30; On the road!!

Well the passed it’s MOT first time yesterday so that’s that for another 12 months!

My strut seals never did come from Toyota so I made a new seal using a rubber I had in my “box of miscellaneous gaskets, rubbers and other non vital unknown bits”. Seems to have worked a treat!

Gave her the yearly waxoiling too, which is messy but pretty satisfying. It easily has 10 liters in the old girl now so technically I should be able to park it in the sea.

Anyway to celebrate the MOT pass I modified the bike can! I have never liked the look of it on the car so I cut it up.

Say hello to 7″ of up swept delight!

Its hardly a 6ft star exhaust but I think it is in keeping with the rest of the shakotan-esque styling.

THE PRIMADONNA Z AN AUTO-BIOGRAPHY

Check out these cool Z cars designed and built by a guy called Jack Atkinson around 1974. The original Z-Bait was built in the street outside Jack’s apartment without even a workbench and was kept in a home made aluminium garage.

I love cars and builds like this; really inspiring stuff. Check out the full story HERE on the HyridZ forum.

inokoshientotsu: A great Boso photo site

Found this LINK. Loads of really nice high-res pics. Enjoy!

According to Babel Fish;

“Just a little, it meaning that weather is bad, it does, but オラ it is fleeting? The り it enjoyed and the ちゃ was. Everyone who goes together and everyone who participated, it seemed the tired way. Everyone who the day can meet, thank you. And the people of the sponsor, it seemed the hardship way.”

Well that clears that up.
